History

2015: Contraline is founded with the intention to develop a long-acting, non-hormonal, reversible hydrogel-based male contraceptive
2022: First-in-human trial initiates in Australia, studying safety and feasibility of an injectable hydrogel implant, ADAM. 
2024: Preliminary results from first-in-human trial showed promising reduction and elimination of sperm in samples and safety at 12 months
2025: Developer announces that ADAM has reached its primary clinical endpoints for the first two trial participants to reach 24 months of follow-up (out of a total of 30 participants), showing safety and efficacy for the full target product duration. Contraline receives regulatory approval for Phase II trial in Australia, planned to initiate in Q3 2025. 
2025: Contraline announces receipt of $1.9M NIH grant for product refinement and development acceleration, including further development of Adam Air, the "next generation" of the ADAM product, which is an implantable aerogel rather than a hydrogel injection.
