History
2021: Population Council, in collaboration with Profamilia and with support from NICHD and HRA Pharma, publishes results of a single blinded, randomized 3-group parallel proof of concept study evaluating PK and PD of a copper IUD coated in ulipristal acetate, a drug commonly used for emergency contraception. Study finds that a 20 microgram per day dose produces favorable bleeding patterns without a notable increase in PAECs. The novel product is found to be well-tolerated and acceptable to users.
