Exciting Opportunities from The Male Contraceptive Initiative

The Male Contraceptive Initiative (MCI) has announced three new funding opportunities: the David Sokal Innovation Awards, the Discovery & Development Awards, and the 2020 Fellowship Program.

The David Sokal Innovation Awards, named after MCI co-founder Dr. David Sokal, are intended to inspire new thought in contraceptive development and public understanding. The awards will support projects at early stages of contraceptive discovery or projects focusing on the social science of male contraceptives (maximum $150,000 for 2 years). Letters of intent are due May 31, 2020.

The Discovery & Development Awards will support projects in active contraceptive development, funding research on pre-clinical stages of development through IND- or IDE-enabling studies to push products closer to market (maximum $300,000 for 2 years). Letters of intent are due May 31, 2020.

The 2-year MCI Fellowship Program is seeking postdoctoral trainees or PhD students with an interest in the research and development of male contraceptives, basic science of male contraceptive targets, tools that are broadly applicable to the development of male contraceptives, and illustrations of the impact, acceptability, unmet need, behavioral or sociological implications of male contraceptives. Applications are due April 30, 2020.
