Over the course of the year, FP2030 and the CTI Exchange, in partnership with Population Council, PSI, the Reproductive Health Supplies Coalition, and FHI 360, hosted a series of learning events, presentations, panels, and frank discussion that engaged with a range of experts to share a vision for what a user-led, context-appropriate, and gender inclusive contraceptive method mix could look like for the next generation of potential contraceptive users.

  • The first event in this series, Innovatve Technology, User-Focused Design, was an exploration of innovative contraceptive technology and included presentations on the Nestorone®/Testosterone transdermal gel, biodegradable implants, and multipurpose prevention technologies. Watch a recording of the event here.
  • The second event, Innovation in Contraceptive R&D Funding, focused on funding models and strategies for facilitating contraceptive research and development. Speakers presented both trends in funder focus and encouraging progress towards support of human-centered design, as well as innovative approaches to strengthening the contraceptive technology market through strategic investment. Watch a recording of the event here.
  • The third event, Innovation in Contraceptive Access Strategy, discussed innovative strategies for facilitating contraceptive access. Speakers from USAID, PATH, and Market Access Africa provided a picture of what the introduction processes of the next generation of contraceptive products could be through an exploration of global decision-making, country-level advocacy, and local health system strengthening. Watch a recording of the event here.

With such a wide range of partners, we are hopeful that this series will introduce more people to the exciting field of contraceptive innovation.
