History
InnovaGyn, a startup founded out of EVMS/Old Dominion University, has received funding for clinical development of a novel on-demand oral contraceptive containing levonorgestrel and meloxicam from NIH since 2021. In 2022, InnovaGyn initiated a Phase II trial with 21 participants intended to evaluate the product's ability to delay ovulation by 7 days. The trial concluded in November 2025. In 2023, InnovaGyn received focused funding from NIH to evaluate the product's ability to delay ovulation in obese users - that Phase II trial also concluded in November 2025.
