History
2018: The University of Hong Kong initiates a Phase II/III randomized controlled trial to compare the efficacy of a combined regimen of levonorgestrel and piroxicam vs levonorgestrel and placebo.
2023: Phase II/III trial results are published confirming that the piroxicam combined pill performed better than the placebo combined pill, preventing 94.7% of expected pregnancies compared to 63.4%.
2024: The University of Hong Kong registers Phase III clinical trial intended to compare LNG + Piroxicam to the approved reference product, Ulipristal Acetate, in 980 participants. As of 2026, the record does not yet indicate that the trial has initiated.
